the chance to be a hero

Your dog's world has gone dark, and has just crashed down upon him .... and you. Your dog may make some mistakes in the beginning. He may have accidents in the house. He may not want to go out for a walk or do the things that he used to do. He may frustrate you. He is not being stubborn–he is scared.

Please, please remember that your dog needs you now more than ever. Imagine your ability to see disappears. Then, imagine you are all alone. Scary, right? This is why it is important for you to remember to be patient and supply lots of guidance. You will be his eyes now.

The good news is that it gets easier! After four years of blindness, Cori is so good at it that most of the time, if she is in a familiar environment, she will walk around, over or under most objects, rather than bump into them. She chases whiffle balls. She takes walks and runs around in wide open spaces. She still needs guidance in unfamiliar spots, but wouldn't you?

The bond between you and your blind dog will grow and intensfy as you depend on and trust each other.

When it comes to blind dogs, YOU have the power to help them relearn their environment, build confidence and ensure safety.

This is an opportunity for you. Having someone rely on you and look to you for guidance can be a very rewarding experience. This is what is happening here. You have the chance to be a hero in a dog's life.
