"Your book helped me so much when Dusty first went blind." ~Rita
"Thanks to the suggestions you offered, Rocky was able to navigate through the house, two stories and all, and still be able to play fetch, which he dearly loved. I have sent your Blind Dog Guide to so many people, always mentioning your name. At least a dozen people have benefited from your booklet." ~ Kim, mom to Rocky (in doggie heaven)
The book is vey informative and explained a lot to me about different things and how to go about doing them with him. I thank you so much for your help and everything. ~Beth
"My dog, TinkerBelle, suffered sudden blindness from SARDS three years ago. We felt sad, frightened and alone until we found a light at the end of the tunnel; Sarah Whitman, her blind dog Cori, and The Blind Dog Guide written by Ms. Whitman and inspired by Cori. If it had not been for Sarah and Cori, TinkerBelle and I might have despaired rather than learn to live with the sudden change in our lives. We cannot thank Sarah (and Cori) enough." ~Elisabeth, mom to TinkerBelle and Spanky
Thank you so much for the Blind Dog Guide–this is wonderful !!! ~Hope

~Brenda, Largo, FL
I am always so happy to see someone who goes out of their way to be so helpful as what you are being in putting together that booklet. ~Beth
Your guidebook is wonderful and I realize that I've been making a lot of mistakes. Thank you so much for sending it along. I thought Desi (who is 15) was just senile, but I realize now she's depressed. You've given me inspiration to try a bit harder to make her life more interesting and easier. ~Rosemary
I just finished your guide. FABULOUS!! It will really help a potential adoptor of our Majic. I found that I am doing pretty much everything you have outlined. But ... dogs are my life and I relish every minute with them. Majic is in a shelter and that is so different from a 'real' home. I will be sending you a donation because I think your guide is a must for anyone who adopts Majic. ~Anonymous
You do great work - those of us with blind dogs thank you for helping us ~Denise
Thank you for keeping us updated with your wonderful project. We are looking forward to the day when we can assist you and others that are helping our beautiful and amazing companions. You are truly making a difference. ~Diana
What a fabulous thing you are doing. Please keep up this wonderful work. Thanks so much for this guide. ~Sandy
You outline everything very clearly, simply, and lovingly. A blind dog IS an adoptable dog. Thank you for what you've done. I will be giving the new adopter, when they come along, a copy of your guide. Although this dog has lived with his blindness all his life, it will be a great asset to his new adopter to refer to. Thank you, thank you. And he thanks you too. ~ Anonymous
I must say I admire the work you are doing. God bless you for that. ~Betty
I love your site!!! ~Andrea
Every time I read Cori's story, I get reenergized. I downloaded it off the computer and now that I am back from vacation can really take the needed time to get down to looking at it. ~Michelle
Your book has been very helpful in rehabilitating (my dog). ~Jen
I just wanted to update you - you were so helpful. He is still with us. He is a pretty laid back sweetie. I think everyone has adjusted - we still have some occasional grumbling, but all in all, we have a routine. Our dog has his familiar spots and does best when the routine isn't disrupted. He enjoys sitting in the sun, exploring in the snow, and doesn't want to be left out. His ability to adapt is remarkable. ~Anonymous
Rescue just took in another blind foster - I forwarded your info, and hope that I can be of help. Thanks again for your efforts on behalf of these resilient dogs. ~Sandy
Our dog was going blind from glaucoma, but he finally had to have surgery because he was so sick with it. As a result of the surgery, he has lost every last bit of his vision. I was devastated -- he was so confused and scared when he woke up. He was an abandoned dog and he does not need any more fear in his life! He is now post op and he is out and about with me learning the commands you talked about, and he is actually doing AMAZINGLY well!
I am following many of the steps you listed. He is wagging his tail again. Thanks. You have really helped me to help him and we work on his new training two or three times a day. ~Susan
Thank you for sending me your copy of the Blind Dog Guide. It was a great help for me to understand that dogs do go on and have a productive life, even without sight! Thanks! ~Donna
My dog was born blind, damn backyard breeders. We run a rescue for dogs. When we got her, right away I knew she was mine and was never going to leave this house, over my dead body. I love her so much. And now thanks to you I can really help her. I found you on a search I did. Thank God. Again from the bottom of my heart thank you. ~ Sharon
Thank you for all the work you have done assembling this. ~Elizabeth
Thank you so much for your quick reply and sending me a copy of your booklet. I can't wait to read it and start helping Dusty get readjusted. I will put your plan in action and will get back with you in a few weeks and let you know how everything is going. I want you to know how much I appreciate your help....when things are financially a little better for me, hopefully sometime this year, I promise to send you a donation for your wonderful and worthwhile work. It is so great knowing there are others who love their animals as much as I do. God Bless You and yours. ~Rita
I just wanted to thank you for this document. It is a very inspiring story. It reflects my dog to a small extent, in that he also became depressed, inactive and scared. I am glad things worked out for you and your dog in the long run. ~Kim
Thank you so much for your email and encouragement. I looked at your website and all that you are doing for blind dogs. Thank you! Heidi
Sarah, when I read your guide, I became a bit weepy. I guess I am still in shock, and it is so true for me to get a hold of me, to help Belle. I am so glad to have found company that knows where we are at and where we are going. ~Christina
Hi Sarah, a little over a year ago my dog went suddenly blind. Se lost one eye in an accident in 2001, and against all odds, she lost her remaining eye in another accident in August 2006. While she was recovering from the anesthesia of her emergency surgery I surfed the net like crazy trying to find help for us, as I didn’t have a clue of how to help my baby. I found some advice, but it came slowly and I was desperate (I had only 48 hours to learn all there was to learn about blind dogs)... I found a link to your booklet. It was a LIFE SAVER! It gave me quite a few ideas that I eventually adjusted to my dog’s particular needs (she also has a lot of neurlogical deficit from a disc herniation) and especially, it made me work put a plan of action, which helped me keep my sanity through this mess.
Within two months, my dog was exploring the entire house and starting to navigate very well, recovered much of her self esteem and seemed eager to move on. Within four months she was back to her usual self: a spoiled diva that ruled the house.
Today, you can hardly tell she is blind. My sister (who came to visit) just told me how her facial expressions don’t even need eyes, as she makes herself perfectly celar when she wants something, when she doesn’t like something, and when she’s definetly mad! Nothing even stops her from exploring places she’s not familiar with. It’s amazing.
I just wanted to thank you for doing that booklet and helping us. I really would’ve been a mess without that information and would not have been much help for my baby. If I didn’t help her and she didn’t overcome this … God knows what would’ve happened. But thanks to you and to all the tips and support we found, she’s still around and doing great. On behalf of my dog and from me, THANKS! ~Guadalupe
I can't thank you enough for your prompt response to my request and have already saved and printed the information. I am sure you know well how much we value and appreciate any help we can get. It is comforting and encouraging to know how many others are going through the same situation with our beloved pets and people like you, who give us hope, are wonderful beyond words. Thank you again. ~Anonymous
I had set aside this morning to read your guide. I just finished it. Sarah, thank you so very much. It's such a HUGE help to have you, this guide, and all the other folks who have given me kind words and reassurance from this group. Honestly, I do not know what I would have done without you! As I tell folks what is happening to my dog, they are shocked at my calmness. I have been known to be, er, a dog-spoiler and it is almost a joke with my friends how I treat my dogs. They are really surprised that I am not freaked out.
Those of us with blind dogs thank you for helping us. ~Anonymous
Sarah, I found your guide to be very helpful. Thank you for passing on your experience and knowledge. As you know, this is scary in the beginning and this happened seven days ago. Your guide made me cry and gave me a hope I didn't know I would find! You and your dog will be our inspiration during our transition into learning to be function and happy friends for the rest of her life. Thank you! ~Adrienne, mom to Wendi
Thank you so much, Sarah. It's a wonderful thing that you're doing - developing and sharing this booklet. It's very well written and extremely helpful. God bless you, and Cori too! ~Dawn, mom to Pandy
Our dog is blind in one eye and soon will be the other so I am trying to educate myself as much as possible so I can her adjust. What an inspiration you and your dog are!! ~ Vicki, mom to Crea
